We Shall Vote With Stones- (To General Babangida)
(Editor's Note: Ibrahim Babangida
was a Nigerian military dictator who is blamed by Nigerians for beginning
a regime of corruption that has ruined Nigeria's political culture.
He was driven from office in 1993 when he annulled a legitimate election.
In the wake of the collapse of President Umaru Yar'adua's presidency
(2010) ,
Babangida has given hints that he would want to be back in power again in
Nigeria.)
We shall vote with stones
Now that ballot paper stands annulled.
The comeback mutant courts
A hail of stones cast as votes. It is incumbent on stones
To vote for our evil genius,
The power incarnate
That turned sap to stone.
Stoned, he engineered
Nomadic transition and annulment.
Stone naked, he fled
From war and history.
The Minna hilltop glasshouse cops
A shower of stones
By the crooked dodge
To diddle massive Lagos votes.
Naked returnee covets civvies on the rock,
And the swansong is put to the vote.
Now that ballot paper stands annulled
We shall vote with stones.
