INSTALLATION OF THIRD PRESIDENT
September 1, 2001

AN ADDRESS BY
THE GKS LAITY WORLDWIDE

The Lord’s Ministry, distinguished invitees:

We the undersigned, representing the God’s Kingdom Society (GKS) Laity, Worldwide sincerely express glory, honour and adoration to Jehovah the Almighty God and His beloved son Jesus Christ for their protection over our lives and for the grace of being able to witness this epoch-making event of the installation of the Third President of the God’s Kingdom Society (The Church of the Living God) and other principal officers, namely the Vice-President, the General Secretary, the Treasurer, two members of the Executive Board and the Trustees, this day Saturday the 1st of September, 2001 in Salem City, Warri, Delta State.

It will be recalled in retrospect that The God’s Kingdom Society (The Church of the Living God) was founded in 1934 by God Almighty through His son Jesus Christ, using Saint Gideon M. Urhobo of blessed memory as a vessel of honour to establish the TRUE CHURCH in Nigeria for the propagation of the saving gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in accordance with the spiritual mandate given to him which he fulfilled gloriously before he departed this woeful world in flesh in 1952 to Mount Zion in Heaven.

G. M. Urhobo
G. M. Urhobo

St. G. M. Urhobo left a legacy of TRUTH and a well-established Church administration anchored on the TRUTH of God’s word, unadulterated doctrines of the Holy Scriptures, plainly on the facts about God Almighty, His beloved son Jesus Christ and the Established Kingdom of Jehovah the Almighty God.

At the demise of St. Urhobo in February 1952, the mantle of leadership fell on his then Vice-President, Bro. Ebenezer T. Otomewo (now late) who managed the affairs of the Church for about 45 (forty-five) years until his death in April 1997.

We thank God that inspite of detractors’ predictions that the passing away of the founding instrument St. G. M. Urhobo would sound a death knell of the God’s Kingdom Society, and that the flock would be in disarray, the Church grew from strength to strength, established more branches across the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in many cities overseas.  The skeptics who were false prophets were proved totally wrong thus fulfilling the Scriptures about false prophets and their predictions thus: “But the prophets, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophets shall die; And if thou say in thy heart how shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken,
but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shall not be afraid of him.”  Deuteronomy 18:20-22.

Although the vision of St. Urhobo envisaged a good church and effective administration by putting the principal officers and other officers in place, the exigencies that prevailed coupled with certain human factors of the regime of late president E. T. Otomewo (1952 – 1997), these officers were hardly in place but the good Lord still saw the organization through some development and progress, and we are convinced that this is the work of God who will never leave His people without a witness.

E. T. Otemewo

Now by the grace of God four years after the demise of President E. T. Otomewo, the machinery for the restoration of the glory of the early Church is being constituted, not only for the purpose of moving the Church forward, but also for the spiritual re-engineering of her original concept of reaching out to one and all and getting across the true and saving gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ, using every available modern facility to package and propagate the good news of God’s Kingdom.  The Principal men of God who are being installed today are (1) The President, Bro. Emmanuel Oseghale Aighalua aged 39, who has been groomed in the rudiments of the gospel and in the essential practices of the Church.  He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.  (2) The Vice-President, Bro. Samuel Nwaeke who is a man of experience in gospel coordination and the practice and procedure of the Church.  (3) The General Secretary, Bro. Gamaliel Aghogho Eghagha who was born in the Church; a strong adherent, groomed under the tutelage of the late President E. T. Otomewo.  The author of the Book ‘Race of Mankind – “Whence & Whither”, he has written several inspiring articles in the Guardian, and other newspapers and magazines and he is a familiar face and personality in many television stations in Nigeria;  (4) The Treasure Bro. David Alli is a tried horse in the rudiments of the gospel procedures and practices of the Church, who, even before his elevation to the executive position, has been in charge of the accounts of the Church for some time now.  Bro. Godwin Ifeacho a seasoned gospel Minister and Bro. John Ikoba another dependable, faithful and committed Minister, both Trustees and members of the Executive Board.

With these Ministers, and others in the Lord’s Ministry of God at the helm of affairs of the Church, by God’s grace, expectations are high, that the God’s Kingdom Society is set to explode spiritually, as the process of restructuring her administration for a more effective evangelism is already in the making.

We sincerely pay tribute to the outgoing members of the Executive Board and other Ministers for their leadership capabilities in sustaining the Church and weathering the storms arising from the crisis generated by certain over-ambitious and self-righteous ministers and members soon after the death of President E. T. Otomewo.  We also thank some members of the Laity who were on hand to assist the Lord’s Ministry in containing the crisis.  The glory goes to God Almighty; See Psalm 115:1.

We call on all men and women of goodwill and even members to make their spiritual investment in the God’s Kingdom Society; by that we mean, you should embrace this Church which preaches the truth of God’s word, for your protection, blessings of both spiritual and material things, and ultimately for your salvation in the Kingdom of God fully established. Christ said, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things (the good things of this world) shall be added unto you”. Matt. 6:33.

The wise man, King Solomon said: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runneth unto it and is safe”. Prov. 18:10.  See also, Isaiah 43:1-3.

To the President and his colleagues, we say, be strong, be courageous, and fight the good fight of faith, and avoid eating the bread of men.

In conclusion, we pray the Almighty God, Jehovah to endow you with the proverbial wisdom of King Solomon, to give you the enablement to go in and out of the vast congregation of God’s people, and to rule in the fear of God.  Look up 2nd Samuel 23:2-3.

We thank you for your attention, and may God bless you all.
