I
WON’T BE THERE I won’t be there When elders abandon their young When destruction runs in our veins When our society forsakes sound values I won’t be there When children disobey their parents When children resent sound advice When immorality makes the day I won’t be there When the nation loosens its standards When quality education is the preserve of the rich When the people grieve because of their negligence I won’t be there When Urhobo nation fails to realize herself When the call for a greater Urhobo nation is not heeded When Urhobo leaders fail and make the people suffer
I won’t be there When the selfless effort of
MUKORO MOWOE is to no avail When Urhobo won’t learn from her mistakes When progress is negative instead of positive I won’t be there When success is calculated only by possessions When only those who call the shots make decisions When value is reserved for those who follow the bandwagon I won’t be there When men fail to realize the very essence of life When the duty to serve is measured by what you get I won’t be there When men fail to give credit for good and punish evil When men fail to reward creativity and positive ingenuity When men fail to reward hard work and intelligence I won’t be there When politics is a ‘game’ for thugs When the land becomes a battle
field and gets desecrated When life means only but nothing I won’t be there When we lose our most endangered specie ‘dedicated leaders’ When at last we can’t give account of anything but selfishness, dishonesty, hatred, tribalism, corruption, failure, crime fraud, etc I won't be there But I will be there when at last God sits in judgment Waiting for each one of us to give account of his/her stewardship Towards making our land a better place Yes I will be there to give my piece God Bless us all God bless Urhobo Historical Society God bless Urhobo Progress God Bless God Bless |
